Veteran GOP lawmakers grill military academies on if they ‘condone’ DEI speakers’ controversial statements
Military academy leaders should be prepared to answer questions from veteran GOP lawmakers about the propriety of any speech offered on campus by speakers promoting DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) views. Leaders should be able to explain both the benefits and drawbacks of presenting such speakers, as well as the specific measures they take to ensure that all events adhere to the academies’ standards of acceptable behavior. They should also be prepared to discuss steps taken to ensure that any controversial statements made by invited speakers do not violate any applicable regulations or laws, as well as any procedures in place to ensure respect and reverence for all members of the military, regardless of background or beliefs.
