Oversight Committee targets Buttigieg for ‘disturbing pattern’ of travel ‘safety failures’
The Democratic National Committee’s Rules and Bylaws Oversight Committee is targeting presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg for what it calls a “disturbing pattern” of travel safety failures. The committee has been asked to investigate a series of events leading up to the incident where Buttigieg’s campaign staff took a flight home in February while he and other members of the campaign had coronavirus-like symptoms. The alleged safety failures also include light staffing of security personnel on the plane and failure to quarantine crew and staff after potentially being exposed. The committee has requested that Buttigieg’s campaign provide a full accounting of the travel incident, including the airline, dates, family members, persons on board, security personnel, the campaign’s policies and procedures on health and safety, and any other relevant information. The committee will be using the information to determine if any of the campaign’s practices violated the DNC’s travel safety rules. Any violations of the rules could result in disciplinary action against Buttigieg’s campaign.
