Harris says she’s ready to step into role of president if Biden is unwell: ‘May have to take over’

Vice President Kamala Harris said during an interview with “Today” Tuesday that she is prepared and “ready to step in” in the role of president if President Joe Biden is ever unable to serve.

She noted that the chain of command in such a scenario would be clear based upon the Constitution and that “it wouldn’t be a question” that such a situation would place her in the role of president.

“I am ready to step into the role that is necessary in service of the American people,” Harris said. “And I’m looking forward to being the partner to him in a really historic administration that the Biden Harris team is going to be.”

“In the event that something were to happen—God forbid—and he (Biden) was not able to serve, then the transfer of power is what is laid out in the Constitution and that puts me in the position to take over,” Harris said. “And I have to be ready for that and I am.”
