Haley facing heat for bringing Chinese company to South Carolina, standing next to CCP flag praising them
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has been facing criticism for her recent attendance at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new Chinese investment in her state. The $200 million investment from telecommunications company Sunwoda Electronic Co. Ltd. has been welcomed by Haley, but she has been facing criticism for standing in front of a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) flag during the ceremony and praising the company’s investment. In response, Haley has defended her actions, saying that her visit was meant to highlight the business opportunities between South Carolina and China, and her speech “was an effort to bring business and jobs to South Carolina.” She added that she was not aware of the CCP flag in the background and had she seen it she would not have attended the ceremony.
