Six-Figure Prices for Bitcoin Rock Ordinals and EtherRock NFTs Reignite Hopes for Return of NFT Mania
In recent weeks, Bitcoin Rock Ordinals and EtherRock NFTs — two digital collectibles — have sold for prices of over six figures, rekindling a hope of the return of the non-fungible token (NFT) boom of late 2020.
The Bitcoin Rock Ordinal is a virtual collectible from the popular CryptoPunks game. Its first sale was on April 20, 2021, for 1,513.5 ETH (roughly $2.5 million USD at the current exchange rate). Notably, this was the first CryptoPunk to be sold for this type of money and is likely to become an iconic part of the CryptoPunk universe.
The EtherRock NFT was sold on March 26, 2021 for a record-breaking 900 ETH (roughly $1.5 million USD at the current exchange rate). It was created by the artist Guerrilla King and is a unique-looking mallard wearing a crown sculpture. This sale is significant because it is the first time an EtherRock NFT has broken the 900 ETH barrier, showing that the market is still very strong.
Although both of these transactions happened within the space of a few weeks, they serve as a reminder of the tremendous potential of NFTs. It appears that the NFT market is still viable and that there’s much to be excited about when it comes to the latest developments in the industry.
