Democrats fail to shield Rashida Tlaib from House censure vote over her anti-Israel remarks
House Democrats did not shield Rashida Tlaib from a House censure vote. The House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly in favor of a resolution condemning anti-Semitic remarks made by the Democratic Representative from Michigan about Israel. Although most of the Democratic caucus supported the resolution, some members of the party declined to vote. Tlaib was also allowed to address the House floor during the debate prior to the vote. In her speech, she clarified her remarks, criticized the resolution itself, and called for lawmakers to reject “the rhetoric of hate and division.”
