Israel omitted from online maps in China amid war on Hamas in Gaza
China has removed the nation of Israel from its official online maps amid an ongoing military conflict between the Israeli military and Hamas in Gaza, according to reports. Chinese state media have reported that search engine giant Baidu Maps and other online map services in the country, including online navigation platform Auto-Navi and search service Sogou Maps, have all removed any mention of Israel from their services. The reports come as China has shown strong support for Palestine and condemnation of Israeli actions in Gaza, and as Chinese state media have repeatedly accused Israel of a “gross violation of human rights”.
