6.8% of Nansen’s Third-party Vendor Impacted By Cyber Attack – What Happened?

In January 2020, Nansen, a California-based third-party vendor, fell victim to a cyber attack by a group of foreign attackers. The attack resulted in several customer accounts being exposed and the credentials of over 1,000 employees being compromised. The attackers were able to access confidential information such as customer credit card numbers, address information, dates of birth and partial Social Security numbers. Nansen estimates that 6.8% of their customers were impacted by the attack.

To contain the fallout, Nansen took precautionary measures to secure their network, investigate the security breach and notify affected customers. They have since implemented additional controls and procedures to strengthen their security measures. Furthermore, Nansen has offered affected customers a free one-year subscription to a credit monitoring while the issue is being resolved.
