Trump keeps massive lead, Haley ties DeSantis for second in new 2024 GOP presidential primary poll
A new poll of registered Republicans found that President Donald Trump continues to maintain a healthy lead among potential candidates in the 2024 GOP presidential primary race. The survey, conducted by Rasmussen Reports, found that 52% of Republican voters said they would vote for Trump to be their party’s presidential nominee in the 2024 election, while 11% said they would back former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley.
Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis were tied for second place in the survey, getting 11% each. Following them were Vice President Mike Pence with 6% support, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice with 5%, former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford with 3%, and former Ohio Governor John Kasich with 2%.
The Rasmussen Reports survey was conducted among 1,000 registered Republican voters and had a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.
The results of this poll indicate that President Trump continues to be the front-runner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. That being said, the race is still very much in flux, and there is no clear cut second place contender. While Haley and DeSantis are in a dead heat for second place at the moment, the other potential candidates in the race are still relatively unknown, and as such have not yet been able to establish any real traction. As the 2024 race heats up, it will be interesting to see if these lesser-known candidates can begin to make inroads with Republican voters and possibly pose a challenge to Trump.
