MrBeast’s food delivery service partner denies ‘disparaging’ allegations in new legal filing
The food delivery service partner of YouTube influencer MrBeast (whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson) has denied “disparaging” allegations in a new legal filing. Chef’s Lane Inc., which operates DoorDash, is refuting a lawsuit from a small business owner claiming DoorDash undermined its pricing, according to The Verge.
The dispute centers around a collaboration between MrBeast and DoorDash that allowed customers to order fast food delivery, but only if they spent a certain amount of money on MrBeast’s merchandise.
In its filing, Chef’s Lane said the complaint “failed to plead facts that would establish that DoorDash is not entitled to the protection of an arbitration provision.” The company also denied the claims, arguing that they are “disparaging, inflammatory, and wholly meritless and that they should be dismissed outright.” DoorDash further argued that the complaint omitted numerous important facts, including that the plaintiff was required to accept DoorDash’s terms and conditions prior to the collaboration.
The lawsuit is part of a larger clash between traditional restaurants and large third-party green delivery companies, which have become major players in the industry. Small businesses have argued that services like DoorDash undercut their prices and hurt their businesses in the process. This case could set a precedent for how these services are regulated.
