Delta will make it harder to get into airport lounges, changes rules to earn elite status
, and will be expanding their revenue-based loyalty program Delta SkyMiles.
Delta SkyMiles will now be more difficult to accumulate depending on how much you fly and will affect how easily customers can access airport lounges. The new rules to earn elite status will also be stricter, requiring customers to fly more to reach that level of a mile. In addition, the airline will be introducing a revenue-based loyalty program to better recognize customers based on how much money they spend on flights, regardless of the miles traveled. This means that customers may need to purchase more expensive tickets in order to reach elite status or access certain perks, such as airport lounges. This shift could also affect frequent flyer and other loyalty program members who are used to receiving benefits based mainly on the number of miles they fly.
