Speaker McCarthy met with Hakeem Jeffries and vowed to play nice after Pelosi called him a ‘moron’

Speaker McCarthy said he had a “respectful, productive” meeting with Rep. Jeffries, during which they discussed a variety of issues including how to work together going forward despite the tensions that have surfaced between the House Democratic and Republican leadership. During the meeting, McCarthy expressed regret for the public remarks he had made about Speaker Pelosi, and pledged that he and his colleagues would work cooperatively to achieve shared goals. He also said he looks forward to working in a bipartisan manner in the future.
