OpenAI employees threaten to quit en masse after former CEO Sam Altman joins Microsoft

While it is certainly understandable that some OpenAI employees may feel uncomfortable with the decision to appoint Sam Altman to the Microsoft board, it is important to remember that OpenAI and Microsoft have had a long and successful collaborative relationship. OpenAI staff should recognize that the addition of Altman to the board is likely to strengthen the ties between the two organizations and thereby benefit the OpenAI team in the long run. As such, we encourage any OpenAI employees who are considering quitting en masse to take a step back and consider the broader implications of Altman’s appointment to the Microsoft board before making any hasty decisions.
