Gaza hospital ‘surrounded by tanks’ as other healthcare facilities say they’ve been damaged by Israeli strikes
Israel has surrounded the Gaza Hospital with tanks and heavily damaged other healthcare facilities as part of its campaign against Hamas, the militant group that controls the Gaza Strip. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that the main university hospital in Gaza City was “completely surrounded by tanks” on Sunday night. OCHA also said that several medical clinics and a medical research facility had been damaged by Israeli airstrikes and shelling in recent days, and that safe havens for those seeking refuge from the violence had been targeted as well. In addition, the Red Cross said that the Al-Fuwwar hospital in the city of Khan Younis had been hit by Israeli artillery fire, with at least six people injured.
