Gazans forced to drink dirty, salty water as the fuel needed to run water systems runs out
Gazans are being forced to drink dirty, salty water as fuel needed to run water systems runs out. The water crisis in Gaza has been exacerbated by an electricity crisis that has lead to shortages in fuel used for pumps that provide clean drinking water to two million Gazans. An Israeli blockade, local power struggles and wars with Israel have all made it hard for Gazans to access clean water. The UN estimates that by 2020 only 15 percent of water in the Strip will be fit for human consumption.
