GOP lawmakers rip Hunter Biden’s cozy relationship with CCP-linked businessman: ‘Damning evidence’
Republican lawmakers are calling out Joe Biden’s son Hunter for his “cozy relationship” with a Chinese communist-linked businessman, saying the evidence shows Hunter Biden may have profited from the relationship.
At a press conference on Thursday, Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Mike Johnson (R-LA) presented what they said was damning evidence of Hunter’s relationship with Chinese entrepreneur Ye Jianming, who has close ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
“When we talk about Hunter Biden and his profile and his business dealings in China, as far as we can tell, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s probably a duck — and this looks an awful lot like a Chinese duck,” Johnson said.
The two lawmakers said Hunter Biden flew to Beijing in December 2013 to meet with Ye and his company, CEFC China Energy. They said the pair appear to have established a lucrative business relationship, with Hunter Biden potentially profiting from the arrangement.
“Hunter Biden deepened a relationship that was already real and potentially profited from it,” Johnson said. “This is damning evidence that strongly suggests Hunter Biden had a cozy relationship with a Chinese-controlled company that appears to have benefitted from his father’s policy positions while he was Vice President of the United States.”
The two Republicans called for an investigation into Hunter Biden’s activities in China, stressing the importance of transparency and accountability. Jordan went so far as to call on the Biden administration to “only fill jobs with people that follow the law and put American citizens first.”
